The Concept
The 2023 event's theme was carnival. Since this shared similarities with the previous year's county fair theme, my main goal was to adopt two distinctly different approaches while embracing the chance to try something new. After considerable research and careful adherence to deadlines, I concluded that a festive and sophisticated design was the way forward. This was achieved by incorporating fine, hand-drawn details, a gold color, and a limited color palette. Although white and red stripes are a visual staple for carnivals, I needed to ensure the design didn't resemble a circus while maintaining an elevated feel. The stripes were subtly integrated and complemented with dark blue to give the design character, suggesting festivities continuing into the afternoon. Bright splotches of color were added to break up the dark blue, enhancing the fun and dynamic feel. Reflecting the actual event's entertainment options, I included a mask and a magician's hat in the design corners, corresponding to the event activities where attendees could decorate their own mask and enjoy performances by a local magician.

In addition to the printed materials, I developed a library of digital assets to promote the event online, including graphics for square and story-sized formats, as well as a digital banner for ASI's website.
For additional event assets, I integrated elements from the main design, such as red and white rays, the color palette, and typeface into the ASI Week schedule. Key ASI programs like the Children's Center, KSSU, and Aquatic Center were highlighted in the postcard corners. The food voucher featured illustrated images of the event's food offerings.
It was crucial that the deliverables didn't just replicate the same design. For the passport, I enhanced the magician's hat and mask elements, reflecting the entertainment options available at the event. Since the passport cards were distributed and collected during these activities, incorporating these symbols felt particularly appropriate
