KSSU Fundraiser T-shirt
Concepts were presented to the KSSU team for review, and the retro mood board resonated with them the most, aptly so as the station approaches its 40th anniversary. I aimed to capture KSSU's dynamic nature, which embraces a variety of music genres and formats including playlists, live music shows, artist interviews, and sports commentary.
The design centers on a speaker and KSSU's mascot, Sparky, who is depicted enjoying his music. This element is reminiscent of the station's prominent programs, which range from providing background music for on-campus events to hosting silent discos and Commencement ceremonies. Radio waves, both analogue and digital, emanate from the center, symbolizing the reach to various listeners. The design was finalized with KSSU's name in an old-school signage style.
Choosing the color palette was challenging due to the retro theme and budget constraints that allowed for only three colors in the final T-shirt design, including the shirt's base color. The challenge of online color discrepancies was overcome when the KSSU team obtained a fabric sample that matched expectations perfectly.
The fundraising campaign, boosted by additional donations, successfully secured the necessary funds. The KSSU audience responded enthusiastically, with some listeners ordering up to three shirts.
ASI Promotional Merch Design
This design began as a simple project to create a black and white mark that would effectively represent Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) and its programs. After some research, I opted for a circular design with the logo at the center and the programs radiating outward from it. I initially sketched it out digitally and later refined it in Illustrator.
The design was well-received by the team, and I was asked to further develop it and use it as the main concept for one of the upcoming annual events, ASI Day on the Quad. This introduces ASI and its various programs to the Sac State community. A sticker, along with other deliverables, was used to market the event, and totes were given away as promotional items.
